Baku Hosts 4Th Dialogue On Sustainable Development Goals (UPDATED)
Officials from Azerbaijan's central executive authority,including Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov, and foreignorganizations with local representation were in attendance at theevent.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, Deputy PrimeMinister Ali Ahmadov noted that Azerbaijan has coordinated itsNational Development Program with the UN Sustainable DevelopmentProgram.
“The results achieved in Azerbaijan in the social and economicspheres, as well as Azerbaijan's contribution to the implementationof the SDGs, are related to the fact that Azerbaijan was able tocoordinate its National Development Program with the UN SustainableDevelopment Program. We see the results of this integration,” henoted.
Then, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan VladankaAndreeva and Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women,and Children Issues Bahar Muradova made speeches.
The event continued with panel discussions.
The commitments of the 4 Sustainable Development Goals wereadopted as a result of the event.
To note, the SDG Dialogue aims to stimulate knowledge andpresent international best practices to stakeholders, including thegovernment, the UN, the private sector, civil society,international financial institutions, and development partners, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, itaims to provide practical support to the Government of Azerbaijanand the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Developmentin realizing national priorities within the framework of the 2030Strategy of Azerbaijan.
Each SDG dialog is dedicated to a specific topic selected inconsultation with the National Coordinating Council for SustainableDevelopment.
A total of three SDG dialogues have been held since November2022. The first SDG dialogue was dedicated to“Green Transformationin Azerbaijan”, the second -“Towards 2030: Socio-EconomicInclusion in Azerbaijan”, and the third -“Outcomes of the GlobalSDG Summit 2023 and the Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in theImplementation of the SDGs”.
