Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara organised a poetry evening on Wednesday, by the poet Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al Ahdal, attended by a large audience of poetry and literature lovers in Hall 15, as part of Katara's activities accompanying the 2023 Asian Cup.

The poet Al Ahdal recited examples of his poetry, including a poem in love with Qatar that inflamed the enthusiasm of the audience, who responded to the verses of the poem with loud applause.

He covered various topics, including the definition of poetry, and then spoke in detail about genius, which he considered a divine gift, explaining that genius is purely divine choices that are not subject to a particular race, gene, species, tribe, or nation, and sometimes they are hereditary.

Al Ahdal provided many definitions of genius by Arab and foreign writers and philosophers. He explained the characteristics of a genius, including the ability to analyse and reach brilliant results. Thus, he is in contrast to the imitator who takes everything he reads or hears from people of knowledge without the works of the mind and examining texts.

On the other hand, Katara Publishing House continued to receive visitors who love reading in its three wings distributed in Al Hikma Square, in front of Building 22 and on Ibn Al Rib Cultural Street.
