Qatar's Emir demand international stance on Israel-Palestine conflict

(MENAFN) In a significant address to Qatar's advisory Shura council, the country's ruling emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, implored the international community to refrain from granting Israel unrestrained authority in its conflict with Hamas. He characterized the situation as a perilous escalation that poses a threat to global security. Sheikh Tamim emphasized that Israel should not have unconditional authorization to use lethal force.

The emir's remarks come in the wake of a devastating two-week period during which Israeli air strikes in response to Hamas' surprise attack on southern Israel led to a reported death toll exceeding 5,000 in Gaza. This tragic event also saw Hamas claim the lives of over 1,400 individuals and take more than 200 hostages.

Since these events unfolded, Qatar has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts, holding open discussions with both Israel and Hamas. These negotiations have already resulted in the release of four hostages held by Hamas, including two Israeli women.

Sheikh Tamim called for a resolute regional and international response to the escalating situation, emphasizing that it poses a significant threat not only to the stability of the region but also to global peace and security. He underscored the importance of rejecting double standards and ensuring that the lives of Palestinian children are given the same consideration, recognition, and value as any others, with faces and names that matter. This statement reflects Qatar's commitment to advocating for a just and equitable resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
