Successful Efforts In Freeing Two Women In Gaza - MENA


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- MENA news agency on Monday said the efforts by Egypt to release two women held hostage in Gaza was successful.
The two detainees have reached the Rafah crossing following their release.
Based on news reports, Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing announced the release of two Israelis held, Nurit Yitzhak and Yocheved Lifshitz via Egyptian-Qatari efforts, pointing that Israeli authorities were refusing to receive them since Friday.
Meanwhile, in Ramallah, Hamas confirmed in a separate statement on the mediation efforts by Egypt and stressed the release of the two hostages due to humanitarian reasons.
Abu Obaida, the spokesman for Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, said despite eight Israeli occupation violations of the agreed procedures regarding the negotiation efforts, the two were released.
The statement also confirmed that the two were supposed to be released last Friday, but the Israeli occupation refused to take them.
The two were delivered to the Red Cross and were transported to Rafah land crossing, and later to the Israeli occupation. (end)
