Eighth Conference Of Jordanian Expatriate Businessmen And Investors Kicks Off In Amman

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Deputising for his majesty King Abdullah, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation Nasser Shraideh on Saturday attended the launch of the 8th conference of Jordanian Expatriate Businessmen and Investors.

The two-day event was organised by the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Investment, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Shraideh conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah to the participants, and highlighted the conference as a cornerstone in the realisation of the Economic Modernisation Vision.

This conference demonstrates the“genuine partnership” between the public and private sectors, Shraideh said, highlighting the government's commitment to unlocking new investment opportunities, thereby attracting new capital and expanding existing businesses.

The Ministry of Investment has become the central hub of the Kingdom's investment system, he added.

He further highlighted the government's continued efforts to empower the private sector and give it a leading role in the coming economic chapter by developing regulatory frameworks and revising key laws.

JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa also emphasised the indispensable role of Jordanian expatriates in driving the country's economic development, noting that the conference has provided“an exceptional platform to forge new bonds towards a brighter future”.

This was reflected in the theme of the conference, "Investing for the Future in the Century of Modernisation", which embodies the aspirations of King Abdullah, he said.

According to Tabbaa, the Jordanian expatriate community totalled two million in 2022, spread across 70 countries, with the Arab Gulf hosting 75 per cent of them, while their remittances reached $3.45 billion, equivalent to 1.5 per cent of gross domestic product.

He stressed the importance of capitalising on the achievements of expatriate Jordanians and bringing their successes back home.

The Amman-based conference will be attended by Jordanian investors residing in several countries, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Qatar, China, Turkey, Germany, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Lebanon, Italy and Iraq.

The symposium's agenda will cover a wide range of topics related to the current investment landscape in Jordan, exploring opportunities and potentials through the lens of the Vision for Economic Modernisation.

The conference aims to maintain ongoing communication between Jordanian businesspeople and their counterparts abroad to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the economic landscape, the achievements related to economic reforms, and to stimulate further foreign investment inflows into the Kingdom.

The conference will focus on key areas such as finance, banking, ICT, tourism, industry, healthcare, energy and renewable energy.
