Treasury head of US pleads China to combat climate, worldwide difficulties
(MENAFN) On Saturday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen pleaded with China to work with the rest of the world to combat climate change and to avoid letting disputes over trade and other irritants damage ties.
In a conference with, Vice Premier He Lifeng, her Chinese counterpart, Yellen supported American export controls on technologies that anger Beijing. She stated that both administrations should not allow such arguments to ruin successful relationships in business and economy.
″We also face important global challenges, such as debt distress in emerging markets and developing countries and climate change,” Yellen claimed. “We have a duty to both our own economies and to other countries to cooperate.”
Yellen has been one among numerous American representatives who are scheduled to travel to Beijing in an attempt to thaw up ties which have fallen to their lowest point in decades because of disagreements about technology, security, as well as Taiwan amongst additional difficulties.
President like Prime Minister Li Qiang, the No. 2 figure in the ruling Communist Party, have welcomed Yellen with open arms, despite making no indication, they did not alter any of their irritating policies toward Washington and other administrations.
