the feast started last wednesday (28) and runs through saturday (1), with the feast of sacrifice being the first day of the extended holiday. the eid al-adha celebrates the human capacity of loyalty towards the creator, as it celebrates the episode of submission granted to abraham who was called upon to sacrifice his son before being offered a lamb as a reward for his trust in god.
