Mashael Akram Abdulrasheed to Make History as First Saudi Female Referee

(MENAFN) Mashael Akram Abdulrasheed is set to create history as she becomes the first Saudi woman to officiate as a referee at the prestigious Mt. Everest International Yoga Championship. Organized by the Nepal Yoga Association and the International Yoga Sports Federation, this event will mark the second edition of the championship.

Abdulrasheed's groundbreaking achievement comes after she was part of Saudi Arabia's inaugural group of 19 female and two male yogasana referees who successfully completed their training in October at an event held in Riyadh. Her participation in the Mt. Everest International Yoga Championship alongside the Saudi team holds immense significance, as they will be competing in an international championship for the first time.

Nouf Al-Marwaai, the president of the Saudi Yoga Committee, expressed her pride in Abdulrasheed's accomplishment and highlighted the dedicated efforts that went into training and qualifying more Saudi referees to officiate at local, regional, and international yoga championships. Recognizing the growing number of yoga practitioners and professionals across the Kingdom, the Saudi Yoga Committee recognized the need to develop a strong cadre of male and female referees capable of overseeing fair and impartial arbitration in various yoga competitions.

To achieve this objective, the committee collaborated with experts from the Asian Yoga Federation, who conducted training courses to equip young referees with the necessary skills and knowledge. These intensive training sessions were aimed at nurturing and preparing a talented pool of referees to meet the demands of the expanding yoga community in Saudi Arabia.

Abdulrasheed's participation as a referee at the Mt. Everest International Yoga Championship symbolizes a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia's journey towards embracing and promoting diversity in sports. Her presence at this esteemed event will undoubtedly inspire more Saudi women to pursue their passion for yoga and contribute to the growth and development of the sport within the country.

As Abdulrasheed takes on this historic role, she will not only represent Saudi Arabia but also serve as an inspiration to women athletes around the world, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations to follow their dreams and achieve remarkable feats in the realm of sports.
