Arab League's Summit Meeting Opens In Jeddah

Jeddah, May 19 (Petra) -- Arab leaders convened an ordinary summit in the Saudi city of Jeddah. his majesty King Abdullah II and crown prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah are participating in the summit.
Algerian Prime Minister Ayman Bin Abdulrahman, whose country chaired the 31st session of the Arab summit, delivered an opening address emphasizing the importance of Arab unity and solidarity.
Furthermore, he praised Saudi Arabia's endeavors to reinstate Syria's membership in the Arab League, putting an end to its years-long suspension.
The Algerian prime minister highlighted his country's dedication to serving the Palestinian cause and other pressing pan-Arab matters.
Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman welcomed the attending leaders, including the guest of honor, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Prince Bin Salman reiterated the Arab world's unwavering commitment to peace, emphasizing the prevention of our region from descending into a conflict-ridden zone.
He expressed hope that Syria's reinstatement into the Arab League would mark the resolution of its enduring crisis. The prince also advocated for peaceful dialogue to prevail in Sudan, which has been plagued by unrest.
Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abu El-Ghait, cautioned that the world is currently facing its most perilous era in recent history. He called upon Arab nations to cooperate and unite in the face of an increasingly polarized global landscape.
Abu El-Ghait stressed the urgency of resolving the conflict in Sudan and highlighted the longstanding adversity that the Arab region has endured, resulting in millions of refugees and displaced individuals.
