Saudi Arabia climbs 16 ranks in worldwide list, welcomes 16.6m visitors last year


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia’s attraction for international tourists has witnessed it shoot up 16 places in the UN’s list of attractive traveler destinations to be situated at 13th place.

The nation jumped from 29th two years ago on the most recent UN World Tourism Organization’s ranking.

In line with the World Tourism Barometer, the nation opened its doors for 16.6 million tourists this year in comparison with 3.5 million two years ago, endorsing the administration’s drive to become a massive tourism center in the area.

The nation also soared 16 ranks in the International Tourism Revenue Index, amounting to 11th place internationally last year, climbing from the 27th in 2019.

The best outcome results from the several actions and cultural initiatives declared lately as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 program to get 100 million tourists by 2030.

In line with what was mentioned in the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom welcomed 7.8 million international tourists in the January-March period of this year, the peakiest quarterly numbers registered ever.
