Custodian Killed in Nashville School Shooting Remembered as Beloved Figure by Community
(MENAFN) Mike Hill, a custodian at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, was one of six people killed in Monday's shooting. Hill was known by every student at the school, according to his longtime friend and pastor, Jim Bachmann. Bachmann described Hill as a great man who took a personal interest in the children at the school and knew them all by name.
Hill was a father of seven and a grandfather to nearly a dozen grandchildren. He shared a special bond with Bachmann, and the two often talked about their faith. Despite their differences in race and occupation, they got along famously.
As the community mourns the loss of Hill and the other victims, Bachmann encourages people to cherish life and love one another. He emphasizes the importance of disagreeing agreeably and learning how to forgive.
The other victims of the shooting have been identified as 9-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, as well as 61-year-old Cynthia Peak and 60-year-old Katherine Koonce, who was the head of The Covenant School. The tragedy has left the community stunned, and many are struggling to come to terms with the senseless loss of life.
The shooting has reignited discussions about gun violence and gun control in the United States. The incident has added to the growing list of school shootings that have occurred in the country, sparking calls for action to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.
Despite the tragedy, the community has come together to support one another and honor the victims. Vigils and memorials have been held to remember those who lost their lives in the shooting. The legacy of Mike Hill, in particular, will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew him.
