(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, March 9 (KUNA) -- Russia media accused on Thursday that the Ukraine of orchestrating the assassination attempt against President Vadim Krasnoselsky of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) -- a breakaway state internationally recognized as part of Moldova.
According to TASS news agency citing sources in the PMR, the incident was considered as 'an act of terrorism', insisting that the Ukrainian intelligence was behind the attempt.
PMR security forces had confiscated a booby-trapped vehicle, which was to be used in the assassination in the capital Tiraspol.
Pridnestrovia is situated in Eastern Europe with a population of around half a million people.
In September 1990, Pridnestrovia announced a one-sided separation from Moldova, leading to a war that caused thousands of lives.
Moscow brokered the peace process that ended the conflict.
Pridnestrovia is under observation due to the 2022 February military operations launched by Russia against the Ukraine. The PMR has a huge number of Russian troops deployed there in addition to weapon caches, making it part of the overall conflict.
Moscow warned the West from causing any sort of conflict in Pridnestrovia in an attempt to pressure Russia to increase military presence in Moldova. (end)
