Egypt, Iraq Underline Importance Of Cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, March 5 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly and Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Al-Sudani, stressed on the importance of expanding the frameworks of joint cooperation, whether at the bilateral level or at the level of Egyptian-Iraqi-Jordanian relations.
In a statement, the Egyptian cabinet stated that the remarks were made during an extensive talks session between Madbouly and Al -Sudani, during which a number of files of common concern were reviewed.
Madbouly stressed, that Egypt and Iraq are determined to enhance bilateral cooperation in order to increase trade exchange that should amount to the capabilities of the two countries, stressing that the two countries enjoy huge capabilities that could be doubled several times.
The Egyptian premier praised the distinguished bilateral relations and the tangible development it witnessed in recent years, whether at the bilateral or triple level with Jordan, saying, 'we look at this triple cooperation from a comprehensive strategic perspective to link our interests and maximize the common benefits that will benefit everyone.'
Madbouly pointed out the necessity of implementing the outputs of the previous courses of the Joint Higher Committee between the two countries and the conventions and memoranda of understanding in various fields, as well as the necessity of activating what was agreed upon between the two countries in implementation of Egyptian companies for reconstruction projects in Iraq.
The Egyptian Prime Minister affirmed his country's full support for Iraq in the war against terrorism, praising efforts in preserving sovereignty, security and stability and the role of Iraqi state institutions.
The statement also added that Al-Sudani stressed that talking about the joint relations between Egypt and Iraq is based on historical roots, expressing aspiration to prepare for the next session of the Joint Higher Committee and build on the previous agreements.
The Iraqi premier added that there are great potentials for the participation of Egyptian companies in investment projects listed within the budget of the Iraqi government, calling for a double effort to agree on notes of understanding and agreements signed during the joint committee meetings.
