(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Jordan's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Amjad Adaileh attended the 21st session of the Arab Human Rights Committee on Monday.
The two-day event, held at the league's headquarters, was devoted to discussing the combined second and third periodic human rights reports submitted by Jordan. The meeting featured representatives of permanent delegations, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, the Council of Arab Ministers of Interior, national human rights institutions and civil society organisations. Addressing the gathering, Adaileh highlighted the Kingdom's seriousness in meeting its obligations under the Arab Charter on Human Rights, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Submitting periodic reports to the Charter Committee could provide an opportunity to review relevant national policies and procedures, he said, adding that reviewing the committee's evaluation could also help improve the Kingdom's performance and the system of national procedures and legislation.
Haifa Abu Ghazaleh,
assistant secretary general Head of the Social Affairs Sector League of Arab States, said that the report includes accurate figures. Abu Ghazaleh said that she expects a useful interactive dialogue between the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee and the Jordanian delegation.
