(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Service members of the armed forces of Ukraine deepen their knowledge of International Humanitarian Law as part of basic general military training in the UK. “Strong, well-trained and experienced Armed Forces make Ukraine an active contributor to Euro-Atlantic and world security. Ukraine and the United Kingdom, NATO members and international partners outside of NATO – all countries participating in the basic general military training in Great Britain are developing the defense potential of Ukraine by strengthening it during the training of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to repel the attack on democracy and the modern world order by the russian federation,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted on facebook .
One of the first educational modules, which is taught interactively to Ukrainian servicemen during general military training in the UK, is devoted to International Humanitarian Law.
In particular, the classes deepen awareness of the principles of the law of armed conflicts, the rules of treatment of prisoners of war and detained persons.
As noted, the observance of norms and adherence to the principles of international humanitarian law distinguishes the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the army of criminals of the russian federation and ensures international support for Ukraine.
“Instead, the russian federation's use of prohibited means and methods of warfare has resulted in massive, irreparable civilian casualties, civilian infrastructure, and environmental consequences. Such actions are war crimes of the russian federation. Crimes to which the statute of limitations does not apply and for which amnesty is not provided,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed.
Basic general military training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the UK was launched by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2022 and is part of the United Kingdom's ongoing commitment to support Ukraine, which amounts to more than £2.3 billion in military aid.
