US will soon authorize battle tanks for Ukraine

(MENAFN) According to unidentified United States officials who spoke to Reuters, United States President Joe Biden could formally begin the process of sending United States combat tanks to Ukraine to be used in the confrontation with Russia as early as Wednesday.

In line with two individuals who talked to the agency on Tuesday, the Zelensky administration pressured the Biden administration to change its decision not to send M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev.

The so-called Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which permits the United States government to buy weapons directly from the defense sector while maintaining existing United States military supplies, is probably going to be used to finance the deadly assistance.

One of the officials stated that Washington might purchase from its allies a number of United States-made tanks, renovate them, and then deliver them to Ukraine. However, he cautioned that it may be a drawn-out procedure that takes months or years.

Reports that the White House is poised to approve M1 Abrams exports have been confirmed by a number of United States news organizations, with Politico saying that 30 tanks are being considered for Ukraine.
