Doha: Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah made an announcement stating that the cost of insurance to perform Umrah for overseas pilgrims has been reduced.
The insurance cost has been lowered from 235 Saudi Riyals to 87 Saudi Riyal, a 63 per cent reduction, tweeted the ministry.
This is part the Ministry's effort to encourage and facilitate maximum pilgrimage for believers.
The visa procedures require visitors to obtain Umrah insurance covering emergency treatments, adminission, hospitalisation, traffic accident injuries, dental emergencies, pregnancy, dialysis cases and medical evacuations. They also cover general cases such as permanent total disability and death due to natural disasters or other causes.
The duration of the coverage is 90 days from the date of entry into the Saudi Arabia and is valid within the country only.
Saudi Arabia has made travel to the Kingdom quicker, easier, and more accessible. With the new regulations announced during the FIFA World Cup, GCC residents, including Qatar, can easily apply for an e-visa through an online portal.

It also dropped all COVID-related restrictions for travellers to the nation, effectively granting entry to vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers to the Kingdom.
All these efforts had led to a significant increase in the number of pilgrims and tourists from Qatar headling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
