(MENAFN) In order to assist people, deal with the energy crisis, the government is now offering grants ranging from euro50 (USD53) to euro200 (USD212) to French citizens who heat their houses using logs, wood chips, or pellets.
According to authorities, the "exceptional energy voucher" scheme, which went into effect on Tuesday, is intended to help lower-income households get through the winter because the cost of firewood has increased by 30 percent this year.
You can apply for funds online using a website provided by the government. The total varies according to the family's income, the size of the home, and the fuel source.
This month, the French parliament budgeted euro230 million to help those who are unable to afford firewood. The Economy Ministry claims that the program is open to at least 2.6 million families.
Similar coupons with family eligibility ranging from euro100 to euro200 were launched last month for homes using heating oil. France has implemented an energy-saving plan, like many other European Union members, in an effort to prevent shortages and power disruptions over the winter.
