US Republicans promise to treat Musk with "roll out red carpet"

(MENAFN) United States Republicans want Elon Musk, the CEO and owner of Twitter, to appear before the House Oversight Committee in 2019. Rep. James Comer, the committee's new chairman, claimed the New York Post that Musk has already rendered "a great service" by disclosing how his predecessors suppressed stories that were embarrassing to the Biden family.

Comer informed the newspaper, “I have reached out to Elon Musk through backchannels to tell him that we would love for him to come before the committee.” Noting that “I’m pretty confident he’s going to provide more information, but he is welcome to come before our committee. We will roll out the red carpet for Elon Musk.”

The distribution of links to a New York Post article that was derived from then-candidate Joe Biden's son Hunter's laptop was prohibited on Twitter in the last weeks leading up to the 2020 presidential election. According to the report and subsequent stories, Hunter Biden may have made tens of millions of dollars by connecting his father to foreign businesses, including those from Mexico, China, and the Ukraine.
