Minister Bougammaz Refutes MP's Charges Of Mixing Jobs

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- Minister of Public Works Amani Bougammaz on Tuesday affirmed that her work contract with the company executing the airport project had expired effective April 2020 and that her current service in the ministerial post is not tarnished with the charge, conflict of interest.
Reacting to MP Hamdan Al-Azmi, who grilled her in parliament's session today after she took the platform at Abdullah Al-Salem Hall, the minister reiterated that she was employed in 2017 by Limak company to serve as a hazard advisor while she was working as a professor at Kuwait University.
She said that Al-Azmi's interpellation arguments 'are void and baseless,' affirming that she had not manipulated public funds or sought to misguide Kuwaitis. Elaborating, the minister indicated that she had appointed an undersecretary 'due to her accumulating expertise.'
The undersecretary was named as manager of the airport project in February 2021, ahead of appointing the minister and assuming the post.
This interpellation comes as a breach to the previous agreement between the assembly and the government on cooperation, she said. (pickup previous)
