(MENAFN- The Conversation) Senior Lecturer in Development Studies, massey university profile articles activity Dr Apisalome Movono has an undergraduate background in Marine Management and Tourism Studies and completed his Master of Arts Degree from The University of the South Pacific. His thesis focussed on tourism's social and economic impacts on indigenous Fijian communities and established his passion for examining issues that affect Pacific Island peoples and their development. After having completed his PhD at Griffith University, Australia where he sought to improve our understanding of resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and complex and adaptive systems he returned to Fiji. Here, he taught at USP while resuming his involvement in community development. Api is currently a Senior Lecturer at Massey University where he teaches sustainable development and continues his research on Pacific peoples, tourism, systems thinking, and focuses on how the SDGs can be realized. He was part of the East-West Center Tourism Profession Fellows program in 2018, in 2020 he completed the Pacific Oceans Finance Fellowship (World Bank) and is a current recipient of a Marsden Fast-Start Grant funded by the Royal Society, Te Aparangi. His ongoing research seeks to find resilient pathways for Pacific tourism futures.
