DABS Says Uzbekistan Technical Issues Caused Rolling Blackout In Afghanistan

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the Taliban-run Afghan state electricity company, said that blackouts and load-shedding in Kabul, the Afghan capital, and other provinces are caused by technical issues in Uzbekistan.

During a press conference on Monday, November 21,
Engineer Safiullah Ahmadzai, Chief Operating Officer of DABS, stated that the cause for the shortage of electricity and subsequent power outages is due to a technical difficulty in Uzbekistan's gas system.

Rolling blackouts and a lack of power leave the Afghan capital and other provinces dark at night as the harsh winter approaches and the temperature drops.

According to the operations director of DABS, who spoke to the Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency, Uzbekistan is one of Afghanistan's major electrical suppliers and this issue of the blackouts
would be rectified shortly.

The frequent destruction of power pylons by militant groups in the country's northern provinces resulted in periodic power outages, which posed a significant challenge to power distribution.

Even though no power pylons are destroyed and
no longer exploded, power disruptions have persisted since the Taliban's taking over of the country.
