Qatar Amir Inaugurates 2022 FIFA World Cup


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated Sunday the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament which will last until December 18, with the participation of 32 teams.
In his inaugural speech, Sheikh Tamim said Qatar, along with many, worked to make this version of the world cup one of the most successful championships, adding that Qatar invested in this tournament for humanity.
This big football festival is a communication amongst peoples with their different ideas and orientation, he said, wishing joyful time to all nations watching the event.
The opening festival witnessed folkloric and artistic paintings belonging to all participating teams. It began with a dialogue between the East represented by Qatari young man Ghamen Al-Meftah and the West represented by US Actor Morgan Freeman.
The festival included also some Gulf popular paintings and other portraits of different cultures from all over the world. (end)
