US believes it cannot verify Kiev's assertions on Iranian missiles
(MENAFN) According to Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, there is no proof that Tehran has provided Moscow with ballistic missiles. Ryder revealed this during a news briefing on Tuesday. Earlier, Kiev demanded military action against Iran's military-industrial complex, accusing Iran of supplying Russia with the weaponry.
Regarding the purported delivery, Ryder noted, “we do not have any information to corroborate right now that Iran has delivered ballistic missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.” He told reporters that the Pentagon is going to "continue to keep a close eye on" the situation and that Washington "have concerns" that Moscow "seek to acquire that capability."
Ryder's remarks came only days after Mikhail Podoliak, a close assistant to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, urged for strikes on Iranian sites making drones and ballistic missiles. There have been rumors in recent weeks that Iran has given Russia kamikaze drones. Kiev alleges that Russian-designated Geran-2 drones are actually Shahed-136 UAVs built in Iran. Additionally, some media reports assert that Iran has provided Russia with ballistic missiles.
