Zelensky is accused by Kremlin of attempting to provoke world war

(MENAFN) The Kremlin has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of attempting to trigger a third world war after he urged that NATO launch preemptive attacks on Russia in order to discourage the use of nuclear weapons.

On Thursday, Zelensky told the Australian Lowy Institute that NATO must assure Moscow does not deploy nuclear weapons against Kiev's soldiers. To that end, he urged the US-led military alliance and the world community to conduct pre-emptive attacks against Russia so that it "knows what to anticipate" if it chose to use them.

“What should NATO do? Eliminate the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons,” Zelensky claimed amid the online conference. “I once again appeal to the international community, as it was before February 24: preemptive strikes so that they [Russia] know what will happen to them if they use it, and not the other way around.”

Moscow has criticized Zelensky's statement, with Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claiming that the Ukrainian leader's remarks amount to an effort to launch a world war, with "unforeseeable fatal repercussions."
