Doha: The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Qatar held a briefing on Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the CICA, with the participation of heads of diplomatic missions of Asian states accredited in Doha and media representatives.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Qatar H E Arman Issagaliyev stressed that three decades after the CICA convocation, it has turned into an effective forum of multilateral diplomacy, united 27 states occupying over 90% of the territory of the Asian continent, possessing colossal resources and huge intellectual potential, transport corridors and fast-growing markets, which together generate more than 50% of world GDP and provide two-thirds of global economic growth.

The diplomat spoke in detail about the priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the CICA in 2020-2022, the main of which is the institutionalisation of the meeting and its transformation into a full-fledged international organisation.

It was stressed that“the transformation of the CICA will increase the effectiveness of cooperation between member states and other regional organisations and forums.

The participants of the event were also informed about the main aspects of the upcoming 6th CICA Summit, which will be held on October 12-13 in Astana.
