Turkey criticizes Macron for his alleged "imperialism"

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron's comments this week during a trip to Algeria show both his own "distorted mentality" as well as the fact that France had apparently failed to confront its own colonial past, according to a damning declaration released by the Turkish Foreign Ministry over the weekend. Macron's charge that Turkey was disseminating "anti-French propaganda" in Africa provoked the irate response.

Along with Russia and China, according to Macron, Turkey is allegedly creating "activist networks" that promote "anti-French propaganda" and paint Paris as a "enemy" of Africa. They also purport to have a "neo-colonialist" and "imperialist" objective.

Macron's charges were deemed "most unfortunate" as well as "unacceptable" by the Turkish ministry, which also stated that the French president "has difficulties in confronting his colonial past in Africa, especially in Algeria." According to the ministry's statement, France is attempting to resolve this issue by charging other countries with criminal activity.
