QFFD collaborates with GCCIA to improve Gulf energy interconnection system, connect it to Iraq Network


(MENAFN) Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) collaborates with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) to improve the Gulf energy interconnection structure as well as link it to the southern Iraq network.

This deals targets to constitute to cover part of the request for electricity in addition to satisfying its need, and developing the performance and steadiness of the electricity network in the southern district of the Iraq Republic.

By establishing additional transformer substation with a volume of nearly 400 KV in the Wafra region in Kuwait and connecting it to the Gulf electricity interconnection structure to the Iraqi electricity network via Al-Faw electricity transformer station in southern Iraq.

HE chief General of Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari stated that "Together, in partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority, we seek to extend electricity to our brothers in southern Iraq.”

Adding that “As electricity support will play a fundamental and pivotal role in strengthening the vital basic sectors and supporting them to complete Its work, such as the health sector, which will in turn provide health services to a large number of patients, in addition to strengthening the educational sector such as schools and universities. This initiative will have a pivotal role in the economic contribution and infrastructure development."
