Srinagar- Some Students from Government College of Education (GCoE) M.A. Road on Saturday alleged that the college Principal adheres to old school practices of dealing students with an iron fist.

Students say since the day the Principal has assumed charge of the College, students have been at the receiving end.

Around 700 students are pursuing B.Ed, M.Ed, and other courses in the College which includes aged In-service teachers as well.

Although the college is co-educated, the majority of the students are females.

Speaking on anonymity one of the students alleged he was humiliated by the college principal during a teaching practice session at the auditorium

“I was humiliated and harassed in front of scores of students by the Principal when I was looking for the attendance sheet” a B.Ed student of 2nd Semester.

“She told me to leave the auditorium in front of everybody, later female students taunted me” he added.

He said other students are silent as they are scared of the reprisals.

“In this modern era, you can't insult a 30-year-old student to satisfy your ego. This has to stop,”

Another student from B.Ed. IInd Semester voiced similar views.

“I was not able to answer a question some days back, the Principal taunted me in front of everybody”, he said.

Principal Government College OF Education (GCoE) Seema Naz denied allegations saying nothing of this sort has happened.

“If someone has some issues, he should come forward and report to me” she said. (With KNT inputs)
