Doha: One remarkable exhibitor of the 500 brands participating at this year's Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE) is Kiswah Heritage Art & Jewellery where its jewellery pieces speak about the Islamic and Arabian arts and heritage.

The noticeable collection Kiswah is showcasing is its“Kiswah Infinite collection” and the“Arabian collection.” The latter collection features handcrafted design specifically made for the Qatari market.

Among the design inspiration are Museum of Islamic Art, Al Bidda Park, famous landmarks in Qatar and a tasbih piece with a photo of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Kiswah is one of the exhibitors at Al Darwish pavilion.

“We took inspiration from the Islamic arts and heritage, and we also have integrated a number of verses from the Holy Quran. Our most precious collection and best-seller is the Kiswah Infinite collection,” Kiswah Managing Director Yasir Kantarci told The Peninsula on the sidelines of DJWE.

Yasir Kantarci, Managing Directior of Kiswah.

Kiswah is the cloth that covers the Kaaba, regarded as the most sacred site in Islam which is located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Kantarci stressed that each piece of the kiswah added to their jewellery has a certificate proving its authenticity.“Each cloth was in the Holy Mosque of Makkah. It is a gift from us and we don't add charge for it,” explained Kantarci.

He pointed that the Kiswah Infinite Jewellery collection brings an individual to Makkah.“It has a touch or piece from the holy place. Our main goal why we created this collection is for every Muslim to have a piece of it.”

Released last year, the Arabian collection features architectural design of the Museum of Islamic Art, the Al Bidda park gate, and a rosary wherein each bead has a hand drawn landmark or heritage of Qatar. Moreover, it has a photo of the Amir.

The third time exhibitor, Kantarci also expressed his gladness to be participating anew in the exhibition. Kiswah Heritage Art & Jewellery is originally from Turkey and its first outlet overseas is in Qatar.

“We are thrilled to be here, this is the most important exhibition we had throughout the years,” Kantarci stressed. There are ten jewellery collections Kiswah is exhibiting at DJWE, which will conclude today. These are: Unity, Golden Age, Al Andalus, Classics, Neoclassics, Sacred Art, Precious Touches, Kiswah Infinite Jewellery, Arabic, and Design Object collections – Era and Kiswah objects.
