Qatar - Fares shines at World Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan
Qatar's Fares Ibrahim competes during the men's 96 kg category at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, yesterday.
The reigning Olympic champion lifted a total of 394 kilogrammes to win the overall silver medal, finishing behind Colombia's Lesman Paredes Montaño (400kg).
Fares also topped the result sheet in the clean and jerk by lifting 222 kilogrammes to win the gold medal. The former junior world champion also lifted a weight of 172 kgs in snatch.
Keydomar Vallenilla Sánchez of Venezuela won the overall bronze medal with a total lift of 391 kilograms (177/214).
