Iran’s investment in agriculture mechanization exceeds USD1.4B


(MENAFN) According to the head of Iran’s Agricultural Mechanization Development Center, since the start of the present Iranian calendar year (March 21) more than 60 trillion rials (about USD1.428 billion) has been spent for investing in agricultural mechanization, which is 2.5 times higher the figure for the corresponding time span of last year.

IRNA reported based on Kambiz Abbasi, the Agricultural Mechanization Development Center alloted 40 trillion rials (about USD925.38 million) of services to farmers during the stated time frame to be used up on mechanization.

Abbasi expressed that the rise in agricultural mechanization investment during the present year has been exceptional, saying: “Simultaneously with the growth of investment in this sector during the current year, we have also had some success in supplying agricultural machinery to farmers, so that during the first eight months of this year (March 21-November 21), we have delivered or are delivering more than 21,000 tractors to farmers.”

When mentioning to the share of seven trillion rials (about USD166.6 million) of services to supply agricultural machines to farmers during the second six months of the present fiscal year, he stated: “These facilities are allocated only to supply agricultural equipment in the agricultural, horticultural, livestock, poultry and aquaculture sectors.”
