
Jordan, Ireland Discuss Ties, Mideast Developments
(MENAFN- Nam News Network) AMMAN, Nov 5 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, yesterday discussed with his visiting Irish counterpart, Simon Coveney, on joint efforts to resolve regional crises and bolster bilateral ties.
The two ministers stressed keenness to deepen cooperation in all fields, and agreed to form a working group, to develop a programme to enhance cooperation on food security, water, education, tourism, technology, and cultural and research exchange, said the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, in a statement.
The two sides also reviewed regional developments, especially the Palestinian issue and efforts to return to serious and effective negotiations, for achieving a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution.
Safadi appreciated Ireland's unwavering stance on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its continuous support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), while hailing Ireland's decision to provide additional donations.
Calling Jordan as a strategic partner of Ireland in the region, the Irish minister expressed his expectation that bilateral trade will reach more than 300 million U.S. dollars in 2021.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he stressed Ireland's support for the two-state solution, noting that his country will continue to support the UNRWA.– NNN-PETRA
