Parliament appoints Svyrydenko as Ukraine's economy minister
A total of 256 MPs voted for a respective decision at a plenary parliament meeting on Thursday, November 4, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
On November 3, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Oleksiy Liubchenko from the post of first deputy prime minister and economy minister.
On the same day, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal tabled a motion in parliament on Svyrydenko's appointment to the post.
Svyrydenko was appointed deputy economy minister in September 2019. Since July 2020, she had served as first deputy minister for economic development, trade and agriculture. On December 22, 2020, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree appointing Svyrydenko as deputy head of the President's Office.
