Canada Jamaica conversations: Climate-Smart Cleantech and Infrastructure Image

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A ten-member Canadian business delegation will participate in a virtual trade mission to Jamaica from 24 to 26 March 2021.

Conducted via a web-based conference, the trade mission will feature Canadian companies from clean technology and infrastructure sectors. They will meet with Jamaican public and private sector officials and executives to explore opportunities in Jamaica's growing market for climate-smart clean technologies and infrastructure.

High Commissioner of Canada to Jamaica, Her Excellency Emina Tudakovic, will participate in the opening event along with Daryl Vaz, minister of science, energy and technology.

They will be joined by Canada-based industry experts to discuss the overarching theme of the mission: Climate-Smart Clean Technologies and Infrastructure.

Canadian cleantech and infrastructure companies are well-positioned to play a significant role in the sustainable recovery of Jamaica, supporting local communities and the continued operation of critical infrastructure. Jamaica can count on Canada as a partner for climate and biodiversity action,' said High Commissioner Tudakovic .'

Senator Aubyn Hill, minister without portfolio in the ministry of economic growth and jobs will headline day two of the two-part discussion.

Canada has made clean technology a priority for its economic growth and is continuing to position Canada as a global cleantech leader in accelerating the development and deployment of globally competitive clean technology solutions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has offered an opportunity to mobilize Canadians' ingenuity to respond to common climate and energy challenges through innovative collaboration and partnerships. The virtual trade mission is organised by the trade commissioner service of the High Commission of Canada in Jamaica and is available to provide business support and advisory services throughout the duration of the Mission.
