Qatar- 437 referred to prosecution for Covid-19 violations

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The competent authorities referred 437 people to the Public Prosecution for violating the precautionary and preventive measures enforced by the country to curb the spread of Covid-19, according to figures released by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on social media on Saturday.

Of them, 374 people were referred to the Public Prosecution for not wearing masks in places where they are mandatory, while 47 were found violating the rule limiting the number of people allowed in a vehicle.

According to the rule, a maximum of four persons including the driver are allowed in a vehicle except when the occupants are members of the same family.

Also, seven persons were referred to the Public Prosecution for not maintaining a safe physical distance, seven for violating quarantine requirements and two others for not installing the Ehteraz app on their mobile phones, according to the MoI.

The measure is in line with a Cabinet decision and Decree Law No 17 of 1990 on infectious diseases, and the precautionary and preventive measures in force in the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the ministry stressed.

The authorities have called on the public to adhere to the Covid-19 precautionary and preventive measures for their safety and that of others.
