KFAED to fund key freight road in Amman, says public works minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 31 (Petra)- Minister of Public Works and Housing, Yahya Kasbi, said Jordanian government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed an agreement to finance Al-Qastal Industrial Zone airfreight road rehabilitation project with a value of JD9 million.
Speaking during his inspection of Al-Qastal's key trade road, some 22 km south of the capital Amman, alongside Minister of Industry and Trade, Maha Al-Ali, Kasbi added that the tender will be floated at the beginning of 2021 and rehabilitation works will take 7 months.
For her part, trade minister praised the "effective" partnership with the Ministry of Public Works to renovate the vital road, which serves Al-Qastal's air cargo area.
Al-Ali also expressed the importance of expediting the road's renovation works to improve the zone's infrastructure, in a way that facilitates the freight movement and goods delivery.
Affirming its economic importance, Al-Ali said the zone has provided thousands of job opportunities, contributed to national exports, and helped meet commodity needs of the local market.
Built on a total area of 4000 square kms, the zone hosts 230 factories.
