Animal Planet discoverss Panams eco-tourism

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) The fauna and flora of Bocas del Toro, the Darién jungle and other parts of Panama will be premiered in a documentary in 2020 on the Animal Planet channel.

It will be presented by Nigel Marven,  who is also producer and director, of a series of programs about Central America that will be seen in 60 countries.

Marven told La. 'Panama is a fascinating destination to practice ecotourism. This can be verified by the number of harpy eagles that we could appreciate in the Damdrién jungle, as well as the beaches of Bastimentos Island, in Bocas del Toro, where anyone can be encouraged to dive the area, something that in countries like Costa Rica you could not do. That place is like the Galapagos Islands in the Caribbean,

Panama says  Marven, is a destination to discover as well as other countries in the region that are known for their nature tourism, such as Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras.

The environmentalist said that the geographical position of Panama favors an active migration of birds that come from both North and South America, which offers the possibility of observing a large number of these species, which can only be seen in a few places in the world like northern Brazil.

More than a canal
'Panama is famous for its interoceanic canal, but outside visitors don't know that the country is much more than that. This is a fantastic country that has a fauna and flora that are hard to find, said Marven.

He said that on the beaches of Isla Bastimentos in Bocas del Toro, he did not see any piece of plastic and regrets that little is known about this Caribbean destination that offers tourists the opportunity to dive and explore the marine fauna and flora in the middle of blue and crystalline waters.

The British presenter also applauded recent efforts to preserve mangroves and prevent urban development in a vital area for the containment of water floods and the protection of the Bay of Panama and millions of birds that inhabit the country. Otherwise, he estimates, an "environmental disaster" would have been generated.
