Sri Lanka- Governor of the Central Bank steps down
(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy has tendered his resignation.
Coomaraswamy had reportedly handed over his resignation citing personal reasons and will vacate his post next month.
'I tended a letter of resignation on November 4. It has nothing to do with elections and politics. It has been in the making since last year, but had been put on hold due to the 2018 political crisis and April terror attacks," he said.
Coomaraswamy will be chairing his final monetary policy meeting this week and plans to leave the bank on 20 December.
He was appointed as the 14th Governor of the Central Bank in July, 2016.
