Tragic blast in U.S. state of Maine


(MENAFN) According to officials and local media reports, one firefighter have died and many others were wounded in a blast at a building in Farmington in the northeast U.S. state of Maine on Monday morning.


BNO News reported that, the blast happened in the morning when firefighters were responding to a smell of propane at a nonprofit site for people with disabilities in Farmington, and Maine Governor Janet Mills tweeted that she is checking the condition and urged residents to stay away from the area.


She also said that, the state's Fire Marshal's Office will investigate the source and origin of the blast, recordings and photos from the scene showed that the building was totally damaged.


The building is a LEAP facility, which gives support to people with developmental, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, Farmington is about 50 kilometers northwest of Augusta, Maine's capital.
