Military exercise starts in India, Thailand


(MENAFN) As said in an official statement, the yearly bilateral joint military exercise MAITREE connecting the Indian Army (IA) and Royal Thailand Army (RTA) began on Monday.


The reason of the exercise is to jointly train troops in counter-terrorism processes in both forest terrain and urban scenario, the 14-day exercise is performed under the framework of the United Nations mandate.


And by doing lectures, drills, demonstrations and skill-at-arms with an aim to refine tactics, techniques and procedures, both the Army contingents will share their experiences in the counter-terrorism operations.


The exercise MAITREE is a yearly training event, performed alternatively in India and Thailand since 2006.
