Sri Lanka- Ranjan Ramanayake apologises to Chief Prelates


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, who has been accused of disrespecting the Buddhist clergy, today met the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter and tendered an apology.

The actor turned politician apologised to the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter if anything he had said had hurt them.

Speaking to reporters later Ramanayake said that he apologised to the respectful monks as he had not said anything directed at them.

He said that his recent statements critical at some monks was targeted only at certain monks and not the entire Buddhist clergy.
