Morocco to spend USD1.2b annually over air pollution


(MENAFN) Morocco is expected to spend around USD1.2 billion annually for public health and the environment as it suffers from air pollution.

Secretary of State for Sustainable Development Nezha El Ouafi confirmed that air pollution is costing Morocco 1.62 percent of its GDP.

The official highlighted the significance of air pollution since it imposes a direct effect on people and the environment.

El Ouafi further added that the National Air Quality Monitoring Network includes 29 fixed stations as well as 4 mobile units, with a forecast for stations to stand at 101 over 11 years.
