Strong earthquake rattles Japan's Chiba Prefecture


(MENAFN) The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) declared that an earthquake of a 5.1 magnitude Saturday has rattled southern Chiba Prefecture of Japan.

The quake took place at 03:20 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located at a latitude of 35.3 degrees north and a longitude of 140.3 degrees east, hitting 40 km deep into the ground.

The quake leveled 5 minus in some parts of Chiba Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which tops at 7.

Till now, no tsunami threats have been set off after the quake.
