Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan prepare border demarcation project

At the meeting of joint Kazakh-Uzbek demarcation commission held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) on May 20-24, representatives of the two countries prepared draft documents on the demarcation of interstate border,Trendreports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.


Negotiations on the demarcation of the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the total length of which is more than 2,100 kilometers, began in 2003.


After the collapse of the Soviet Union, many parts of the border remained inconsistent.


Today, work on the ownership of border areas is close to completion.


"During the meeting, the parties approved a table of the volume of field demarcation work on the Uzbek-Kazakh state border for 2019 and prepared draft final documents on the demarcation of certain sections of the interstate border," reads the message.


According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, following the meeting, the relevant protocol was signed.
