Oman- MECA holds workshop on biosphere reserves

Sulaiman bin Nasser al Akhzami, director general of Nature Conservation, said that the workshop came within the framework of the importance of this kind of protected areas that the Unesco manages to make people know more about them, and to improve the relationship between people and their environments.
He added that geological parks are no less important than human reserves and the biosphere through which man can learn about the history of the planet and how to use them for scientific purposes and how to manage them in sustainable ways. The Unesco representative in the field of ecology and earth at Unesco's Cairo office, said in a speech that Unesco-designated sites, including biosphere reserves, geological parks and natural and cultural sites, are among the most important international sites that play a key role in preserving natural and cultural heritage of countries.-
