Lebanese army collars IS leader

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army on Saturday arrested a leader of the so-called Islamic State (IS) or Daesh while trying to enter Lebanon illegally.

The move came following the detention of another IS leader earlier today.

"An intelligence patrol has arrested Mohammad Khaled Al-Haj of Syria, an IS leader," the army said in a statement.

The arrest came after the Army Intelligence Unit began its investigations and pursuit operation, it added.

"One of the arrestees was alleged to be the terrorist group's emir," according to the statement. (end) ayb.mt
