France raises orange alert over heavy snow


(MENAFN) French weather agency Meteo France declared that 24 French departments, including Paris, were set on orange alarm due to snow fall and icy weather.

The agency added that an expected snowfall and freezing weather are thought to go through the French capital and surrounding areas in addition to northern and central regions till Wednesday morning.

The Eiffel Tower was confirmed to have been closed to visitors on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the snowfall.

"Motorists should be vigilant and informed about traffic instructions before getting out," according to French Transport Minister Elisabeth Borne.
