Spain nabs 4 suspects, confiscates 320 firearms


(MENAFN) Spanish Civil Guards have captured some 320 firearms and over 50,000 cartridges in their "largest operation against illegal weapons trafficking in recent years."

The Civil Guard website revealed that "Operation GOALDE" was conducted in the Spanish capital city of Madrid and in the northern regions of Asturias and Cantabria, leaving 4 suspects nabbed from 11 unrelated operations.

The operation concluded in the capture of 275 pistols and revolvers, 34 rifles and shotguns, 7 submachine guns and an AK-47 assault rifle, in addition to three silencers, 18 kilos of gunpowder, projectiles for creating home-made ammunition and equipment which could be deployed in fixing firearms

The Civil Guard confirmed that four suspects have been charged with arms smuggling and the illegal storage of weapons and ammunition.
