Klimkin thanks EU foreign ministers for approving sanctions against organizers of 'elections' in Donbas


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has thanked foreign ministers of the European Union for the decision on imposing sanctions against those responsible for the so-called elections in the temporary occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In a post on Twitter, he wrote: 'Grateful for EU decision to impose sanctions against those responsible for fake ‘elections' in Donbas. Today at FAC I'll ask Ministers to give complex and clear answer to Russian aggression in Azov.

He also wrote that the EU foreign ministers will discuss the EU support to the Azov region affected by the blockade of the Kerch Strait.

As Ukrinform reported, the EU foreign ministers approved the introduction of sanctions against nine people responsible for the organization of 'elections in the temporary occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Despite the categorical reaction of the international community, the Russian side organized the so-called local elections in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine on November 11. The international community has condemned the holding of these fake elections.
